About Susan Glaisher
Susan is a freelance music educationalist with wide ranging experience as both an instrumental and class teacher. She has held the position of Director of Music at three local Prep schools and has been a visiting instrumental teacher at Abingdon, Cokethorpe, St Gabriel’s school and Oxford County Music Service. She holds diplomas from The Guildhall School of Music and Trinity College London as well as a degree in Music Education and a Masters from the University of Sheffield in the Psychology of Music In Education. She has also undertaken extensive training in both the Kodaly and Dalcroze methods.
Susan is an experienced vocal animateur and Children’s choir director; she took the chamber choir of Headington Prep through to the final of the National Festival of Music for Youth and has worked with the renowned choral director Gillian Dibden and the Taplow choirs as well as Val Whitlock and the Solihull Children’s chorus, Song Squad.
For the past three years, Susan has worked as an advisory teacher and trainer for Ark Schools London, planning and co writing a Primary Music Curriculum which is used nationally across the Ark Schools’ network. She has designed and delivered training for NQT’s and Student Teachers and worked as one of Ark’s music team at National music events for the network, including the annual music gala at the Barbican.
Susan currently teaches music from Reception to GCSE at Forest Farm School in Elsfield and is the visiting musician at Endeavour Academy where she works with young adults with ASC. (Autistic Spectrum Condition)
Susan’s professional career has been informed throughout by the belief that a good music eduction should be the birth right of every child.
